Worship Related Programs
The Church of the Epiphany provides many opportunities for individuals who wish to learn, grown in faith, and serve the needs of others. We encourage you to consider participating in one or more of these programs.
The Music Program
Provides training for volunteer choirs as they share their gifts and talents in worship. There are three choirs: adult, children, and hand-bell. The adult choir leads the congregation in music during the 10:00 a.m. service and on special occasions and Holy Days. Adult choir rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the Undercroft.
Altar Guild
members are trained to prepare the altar for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist on Sundays and other services, as well as related activities in preparation for church celebrations.
Lay Readers / Chalice Bearers
are trained and commissioned to read lessons and prayers of the people during worship services. They also serve the wine during communion. In addition, they are licensed to lead Evening and Morning prayer services during the year, and typically lead the Lenten observances of Stations of the Cross.
Lectors
are volunteers who read lessons and Psalms during the Sunday services.
Acolytes
are adults and children trained to assist the priest during the service and to lead the processions into and out of the church.
Ushers and Greeters
Ushers provide service bulletins to those entering the church. They receive the offerings of the congregation and guide the flow of the congregation to the rail during the Eucharist. Greeters provide welcome, information, and directions for visitors and new members.
Women of Epiphany
meets at varied times throughout the year so as to include all women of the parish (several of the men who wish to contribute service and involve themselves actively in Epiphany life also assist). W.O.E. performs projects in support of the parish and its mission in the world, as well as developing activities that promote fellowship and spiritual growth. W.O.E. contributes particularly to the church the church dinner and bazaar. |
